Ti Kinneson, growing up in Vermont, idolizes his Uncle True and his Western exploits, and when True heads for the frontier again in an attempt to reach the Pacific Ocean, Ti tags along--and, a few years ahead of Lewis and Clark, they actually get there. En route, Ti discovers his skill as an artist.
