After young Joey Shipman's father dies an untimely and mysterious death, his life is thrown into turmoil. He is left in the custody of his stepmother and her smarmy cousin, who he fears is after more than a place to stay for a few weeks. When Joey starts having an unprecedented number of accidents on the family farm, he runs away to a distant relative to seek help.
