Texas Rangers Andy Pickard and Farley Brackett (brother of Bethel, the woman Pickard hopes to marry) are sent to fill out the ranks of a short-staffed border camp along the Rio Grande, not far from where a long-standing dispute between a Mexican rancher and a Texas rancher erupts into all-out war. This is the sixth Western in a series about the Texas Rangers, by a veteran author who has won seven Spur Awards.
